Who Is Ben Smith?

I have been surrounded by meditation and spirituality since the age of 6. I live an incredible life, a large part of which I attribute to this. Through the teachings I have learnt and put to the test for over 20 years, I want to help others to enhance their own life and spread the word of meditation.

I did the four week meditation course with Ben earlier this year and had a great experience. Ben was a fantastic teacher - always patient and engaged with any feedback you had around your meditation experience. It was a really good introduction to the world of meditation and I was pleased to learn a couple of techniques that I could choose between. Ben was hugely knowledgable and always very open-minded - he was happy to answer questions on the subject in detail, whether practical or more spiritual but always respectful of your own reasons for trying the practice. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend Ben's meditation course and would be delighted to return for a Level Two in the future.

I've just completed the Level 1 meditation course and have absolutely lover the experience. Ben is an excellent teacher, open to answering any questions and does an amazing job at helping you troubleshoot any meditation issues you are having. I knew a bit about meditation beforehand, but have been absolutely blown away by how much I've learnt over 4 weeks, and can't believe how much my (now daily) practice has improved by. I was conflicted about being able to make the time on a work day to attend the class as I have a busy job, however a friend recommended the course and found myself wanting to prioritise me over work. I have been doing one on one meditation classes with Ben for six months. Ben is an excellent meditation teacher. He guides you from your starting point, which makes working meditation into your day very manageable. The weekly check-ins have ensured consistency in my meditation practice and have enabled Ben to gain insight to how my practice is developing. Ben is extremely adaptable and understanding. This has ensured open and honest conversation about the process and eliminates any feelings of guilt if things aren't going to 'plan'. Initially, I struggled to meditate for five minutes a day. Six months later, I am meditating almost daily for 20-25 minutes. The positive impact is not just in the length of my daily practice, but also in the calmness I experience in my daily life. Through working with Ben, I have developed great clarity about myself. Situations and decisions which would have caused stress and anxiety in the past, now seem much more manageable. I cannot recommend Ben enough!

Spiritual enquiry

Although in the west, we often use it as a purely practical tool to improve our life, it is much more powerful than many realise.

The highest purpose of meditation is full ‘Self-Realisation’.

The total experiential realisation of who and what we are, beyond the limited mind and body.

I am well equipped to guide you in this field, no matter what your background is, I will happily teach anyone who wants to learn.

Throughout the Level 1 intensive meditation foundation course, I will talk about some aspects of spirituality and the role meditation plays in that, but the majority of what I teach on the level 1 course is based around the practical benefits of meditation (unless spiritual questions probe a more in-depth conversation).
